2/1/2021 11:07:45 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 1: In the reaction to the Budget announced by the Central Government today, the President Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) hailed the Government of India for announcing massive budget for the health sector.
It is pertinent to mention that a lockdown was announced last year in the month of March and our country was not prepared enough to handle the pandemic Covid-19 due to lack of health infrastructure throughout India and Covid-19 was an eye opener for the government to think and focus to increase the budget for the health sector.
Arun Gupta also welcomed the announcement of Rs 35000 crores for Covid-19 Vaccine in 2021-22.
Arun Gupta further said that nothing special has been announced for the Trade/ Industrial Sector in today’s budget but Government of India has already announced the Industrial package of Rs 28400 crores few days back and the notification in this regard is still awaited.
Arun Gupta also welcomed the decision of the Government of India for announcing J&K Gas Pipe Line Yojna.
And at the same time Gupta said that the economy of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is purely based on Tourism Sector but no focus has been laid on the tourism sector and especially in Jammu division which has been ignored from last so many years as far as the unexplored destinations like Bani, Sarthal, Basohli, Pancheri, Peer Panchal, Suchetgarh Border and Bhaderwah etc and we are expecting big announcement in the coming State Budget in this regard.
He also welcomed the announcement regarding creation of 100 new Sainik Schools on the basis of PPP model.
Gupta further hailed and welcomed the announcement made by the Central Government regarding rationalization of Custom duty, exemption from filing of Income tax return for senior citizens above the age of 75 years, enhancement of audit limit from Rs. 5 crore to 10 crore, proposal to revised the limit for reopening of assessments from present 6 years to 3 years only.
Arun Gupta also said that affordable housing is a priority area and extension in the period of loans of Rs. 1.5 lacs to purchase the affordable house is a welcome step.
