COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 125783 following 68 new cases; no fresh death

SRINAGAR, Feb 20: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 68 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 25,783. No fresh virus related death was reported from place in the union territory in the past 24 hours or so.
Srinagar district reported 24 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 10 cases, Pulwama district seven cases, Baramulla and Anantnag districts six cases each, Udhampur district five cases, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Shopian and Rajouri districts two cases each and Budgam & Samba districts one case each. No case was reported from Kupwara, Bandipora, Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 68 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 18 from Jammu division and 50 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 25,783.
Moreover, 70 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 23 from Jammu division and 47 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 25,783 positive cases, 700 are active positive, 1, 23,129 have recovered and 1,954 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,229 in Kashmir division.
Out of 49, 93,409 test results available, 48, 67,626 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 57,447 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,046 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 700 in isolation and 1, 08,874 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 11,873 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,742 positive cases, 317 active positive, 25,964 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,180 positive cases, 39 active positive, 7,966 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,851 positive cases, 41 active positive, 7,691 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,829 positive cases, 42 active positive, 5,698 recovered, 89 deaths; Kupwara has 5,672 positive cases, four active positive, 5,574 recovered, 96 deaths.
"Anantnag has 4,980 positive cases, 35 active positive, 4,859 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,709 positive cases, 16 active positive, 4631 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,664 positive cases, 23 active positive, 4,594 recoveries, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,717 positive cases, 12 active positive, 2,651 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,597 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,533 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,149 positive cases, 95 active positive, 24,681 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,256 positive cases, 23 active positive, 4,176 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,875 positive cases, five active positive, 3,815 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,436 positive cases, one active positive, 3,371 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,836 positive cases, six active positive, 2,790 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,733 positive cases, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,479 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 25,783 positive cases in J&K, 12,092 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
