EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Feb 20: The Rural Development Department Sunderbani has virtually shown insensitivity towards a plea of a widow, who has been running from pillar to post in order to save her land from flood erosion due to a seasonal nallah but it has been months till date that her grievances has not received any attention. Sources told Early Times that the widow namely Chanchlo Devi wife of Late Rashpal Singh resident of Ward No 8 of village Nahoti of Panchayat Nullah had been facing huge difficulty in saving her land from land erosion as a nullah flows along her of land, which is eating up the size of the land with every passing day. “The RDD Sunderbani had also constructed a check dam on nullah in her land, which is the one of causes for land erosion and the situation became worse during the rainy season when land started eroding due to flash flood,” they said.
They further said that the widow had requested the Panchayat head to construct a protection wall along her land so that her land should be saved from damage after which panchayat wrote a letter to the concerned Block Development Office Sunderbani to give the sanction.
It has been learnt that the BDO Sunderbani further forwarded the letter to ACD Sunderbani for sanction of Rs 1.5 lakh but interestingly, ACD sent the matter to Director RDD Jammu for financial assistance but it has been more than one and half month the matter has been lying unattended. Director RDD Jammu Sudarshan Kumar, when contacted, said that he would look into the matter and expressed some financial constraints with the department.
The aggrieved widow appealed to the Lieutenant Governor MK Sinha to intervene into the matter and urged him to direct the concerned official to conduct a survey of the land so that her land might be saved from further land erosion.
