Time for high level to probe to get details of funds collected for Rasana victim

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 20: With the registration of cheating case against two leaders of the Muslim Youth League, Kerala in connection with alleged swindling of funds collected in the name of providing help to infamous Rasana case victim’s family, there is need of a high level probe to ascertain how much money was collected in the name of poor Bakerwal family and how much fund was actually given to the family.
A number of self-styled social organizations had collected funds through ‘crowd funding’ to provide help to the victim’s family but a huge chunk of the fund was allegedly not transferred to the poor nomadic family.
Reliable sources said that not only outside J&K even some local self-styled social activists had shamelessly cheated, financially and emotionally, the hapless family. “A huge chunk of money was transferred in the account of a so-called social activist from the joint account of the victim's family”, sources said and added that many social activists of J&K had earned huge money by brazenly exploiting the name of poor Rasana victim.
In the year 2018, family of the Rasana victim had demanded details of the funds collected by these so-called ‘crusaders’ during the ‘justice to the victim’ campaign launched in the month of January 2018.
As per media reports published two day back, a cheating case has been charged against Muslim Youth League Kerala general secretary PK Firoz and national general secretary CK Subair in connection with alleged misappropriation of funds collected in the name of providing legal aid to families of Kathua and Unnao rape victims.
As per the complainant, both Youth League leaders, the youth front of Indian Union Muslim League ( IUML) – PK Firoz and CK Subair – collected money by crowd funding pretending to provide legal support for the families of victims in Kathua and Unnao rape cases and money was diverted for other purposes.
