42 travelers among 97 new cases of COVID-19 in JK; positive cases reach 126383

SRINAGAR, Feb 27: As many as 42 travelers tested positive for Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir in the past 24 hours even as 97 fresh cases were reported across the union territory. Following the fresh cases the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,383.
Srinagar district reported 44 fresh cases including 26 travelers followed by Jammu and Udhampur districts 11 cases each, Baramulla district 10 cases, Anantnag district eight cases, Kulgam district four cases, Budgam and Pulwama districts three cases each and Shopian, Doda & Kathua districts one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 97 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 24 from Jammu division and 73 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,383.
Moreover, 72 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including three from Jammu division and 69 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,383 positive cases, 828 are active positive, 1, 23,599 have recovered and 1,956 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,231 in Kashmir division.
Out of 51, 74,945 test results available, 50, 48,562 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 05,981 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33,747 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 828 in isolation and 1, 08,673 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 60,777 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,991 positive cases, 343 active positive, 26,187 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,255 positive cases, 87 active positive, 7,993 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,880 positive cases, 34 active positive, 7,726 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,855 positive cases, 40 active positive, 5,725 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,683 positive cases, 12 active positive, 5,575 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,016 positive cases, 39 active positive, 4,891 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,716 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,636 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,668 positive cases, 12 active positive, 4,609 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,731 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,658 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,606 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,547 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,217 positive cases, 110 active positive, 24,734 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,313 positive cases, 70 active positive, 4,186 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, two active positive, 3,819 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,372 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,260 positive cases, four active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, five active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, five active positive, 2,491 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,383 positive cases in J&K, 12,313 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
