Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 27: Although he has not uttered even a single word against leadership during series of functions, former leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad has apparently launched a 'war' against Congress high-command from his home town by inviting prominent faces of G-23 at Jammu.
All the functions organized by different social organizations were apolitical but Azad and other leaders of G-23 seized this opportunity to give a veiled warning to the high-command against ignoring them in future.
Most importantly, G-23 leaders tried to give the impression that Azad is the only leader who is capable of leading the Congress party at this crucial juncture.
"Ghulam Nabi Azad is the most experienced politician of the country. I failed to understand why Congress leadership is not utilizing his vast experience to revive the party", former Union Minister and senior leader Kapil Sabil said while regretting that leadership has not repeated Azad in the Parliament.
Defending the decision of 23 leaders to write a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Sibal said in the Shanti Sammelan, "The reality is that we see Congress party getting weak with every passing day. That is why we have gathered here. We had gathered together earlier too and we have to strengthen the party together".
Echoing in similar voice, former spokesman of Congress party and ex-Union Minister, Manish Tiwari said, "Azad is a dedicated Congress worker who is among few leaders of the party knowing organizational strength". He said that Azad remained incharge of all parts of the country. "Congress party needs guidance and leadership of Azad at this crucial time", he asserted, giving a signal that dissidents, known as G-23, will take confrontation with Congress high-command under the leadership of Azad.
Sibal and Manish Tiwari along with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Raj Babbar and Vivek Tankha were among other Congress leaders who were present at the event organised to honour Ghulam Nabi Azad.
