School heads asked to submit group photographs of staff on every working day

JAMMU, Feb 27: In order to curb the menace of absenteeism in schools of Kishtwar District, particularly in rural areas of the District, all Principals HSS / Zonal Education Officers/ Headmasters High schools of the schools have been directed to share the group photographs of all the staff members.
It has been asked to send the photographs showing the presence of staff members inside the school premises through WhatsApp or had been asked to maintain the record wherever the internet facilities are not available and can be shared at an appropriate time during the inspection of officials or demanded by the officials to check the availability of the staff within the school in case of any complaints related to the absence of the staff from duty.
As per the details available with Early Times, the directions were passed by the Chief Education Officer Kishtwar following the instructions issued by Chairperson District Development Council Kishtwar Pooja Bhandari.
“You are directed to ensure that all teaching staff working under your kind control / falling in your jurisdiction will report to their legitimate place of posting from 1st of March-2021” read the directions issued by CEO Kishtwar, adding that “Further, ensure that every HOI of PS/MS/HS/HSS have created WhatsApp group and on the first day, every HOI will share Group pic of all teaching faculty ,as desired by Worthy Chairperson of District Development Council Smt Pooja Bhandari”.
CEO also warned the officials that any deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously.
Speaking to Early Times DDC Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Bhandari said that there are general complaints of absenteeism culture in the District added that in order to ensure presence of staff within the schools, this step has been taken to check the menace.
“Education suffered the most in Jammu and Kashmir first due to law and order problem post abrogation of Article 370 & 35 A and then due to COVID 19 — we must ensure now that our children will get continue education and absenteeism culture is the big concern in this regard” said Pooja Thakur.
She said that it is not only on first day of the academic year wherein head of the institutions has been asked to submit group photographs— it will be a continuous process since absenteeism culture has dented the education system badly in Kishtwar District.
She said that education is the basic foundation of any developing society and she is in no mood to compromise with any lacuna in the field of education sector.
She also laid stress on every PRI including Sarpanches, Panches, Block Development Council chairpersons and DDC members to keep an eye on functioning of schools in their respective areas and report the matters pertaining to functioning of schools to her office or to the concern officials.
“After schools we will try to get this thing implemented in every government institutions— say Anganwari centers, hospitals, sub centers, community health centers, etc— let us dedicate our self to check functioning of government offices— this will solve half of our problems” said Pooja Bhandari and urged upon the government employees to come upto the expectations of the general masses who are most suffers due to non-functioning of public delivery system.
