COVID-19: JK reports 231 new cases, two deaths; active positive 3582, recovered 309554

SRINAGAR, July 6: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 231 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 3, 17,481. With two fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus in the union territory reached 4,345.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 231 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 83 from Jammu division and 148 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 17,481. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Moreover, 421 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 169 from Jammu division and 252 from Kashmir division. Besides this, 89.94 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across Jammu & Kashmir. Out of 3, 17,481 positive cases, 3,582 are active positive, 3, 09,554 have recovered and 4,345 have died; 2,120 in Jammu division and 2,225 in Kashmir division.
Out of 1, 03, 14,088 test results available, 99, 96,607 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 24, 91,875 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 9,980 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,582 in isolation and 2, 47,549 in home surveillance. Besides, 22, 26,419 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 70,408 positive cases, 705 active positive, 68,873 recovered, 830 deaths; Baramulla has 23,338 positive cases, 226 active positive, 22,832 recovered, 280 deaths; Budgam has 22,682 positive cases, 195 active positive, 22,283 recovered, 204 deaths; Anantnag has 16,178 positive cases, 107 active positive, 15,867 recovered, 204 deaths; Pulwama has 14,975 positive cases, 164 active positive, 14,619 recovered, 192 deaths.
“Kupwara has 13,885 positive cases, 179 active positive, 13,541 recovered, 165 deaths; Kulgam has 11,133 positive cases, 149 active positive, 10,868 recovered, 116 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,678 positive cases, 176 active positive, 9,426 recovered, 76 deaths; Bandipora has 9,350 positive cases, 94 active positive, 9,156 recovered, 100 deaths and Shopian has 5,562 positive cases, nine active positive, 5,495 recovered, 58 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 52,457 positive cases, 458 active positive, 50,863 recovered, 1,136 deaths; Udhampur has 11,207 positive cases, 73 active positive, 11,002 recovered, 132 deaths; Rajouri has 10,757 positive cases, 97 active positive, 10,440 recovered, 220 deaths; Kathua has 9,219 positive cases, 13 active positive, 9,057 recovered, 149 deaths; Samba has 7,091 positive cases, 48 active positive, 6,924 recovered, 119 deaths.
“Doda has 6,934 positive cases, 207 active positive, 6,608 recovered, 119 deaths; Poonch has 6,148 positive cases, 182 active positive, 5,872 recovered, 94 deaths; Reasi has 6,078 positive cases, 308 active positive, 5,727 recovered, 43 deaths; Ramban has 5,876 positive cases, 80 active positive, 5,731 recovered, 65 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,525 positive cases, 112 active positive, 4,370 recovered, 43 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 17,481 positive cases in J&K, 22,585 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces, wearing a face cover is compulsory.
