Early Times Report

Rajouri, July 7: The Tehsildar Sunderbani has allegedly beaten up an elderly man in his office, who had come to attend a hearing of his land dispute.
The 72 year old man informed the media that he had gone to Tehsildar’s office at Sunderbani in this frontier district to attend a hearing of his land dispute case, which is going on between his sister and his elder brother.
He further said that during the proceedings, the Tehsildar Sunderbani announced his decision that the due share of land will also be allotted to his sister in presence of the concerned Revenue officials and police. “When I sought the order copy of the decision, the Tehsildar got irritated and came down from his chair and started thrashing me,” the old man alleged. He said that he fell down and the tehsildar started beating him with his shoes resulting in severe injuries and one of his eyes also got injured. Later, the Tehsildar asked the police to arrest him and he was taken to the police station.
Members of the Municipal Committee also reached the police station and they informed ADC Sunderbani, who asked them to send the victim to his office. “After some time the matter reached to the ADC Sunderbani where all Revenue Officials along with the tehsildar were present but shockingly tehsildar started yelling at me in presence of ADC and left the office without explaining the reason for beating me,” the victim said, adding that he was taken to hospital for treatment where doctors observed that he had got serious injuries.
He said that they have decided to lodge an FIR against the Tehsildar Sunderbani for beating him in his court.
When Early Times contacted the ADC Sunderbani, he said that he had taken note of the matter and heard both the parties and matter will be sorted out.
