Without census 2021, delimitation, election is futile exercise: Youth Federation
Delimitation, election should be held after conducting 2021 census: AJKYF
7/8/2021 12:11:22 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 7: Conducting of delimitation exercise followed by assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be futile exercise without conducting 2021 census said Nakul Sharma, spokesperson, All J&K Youth Federation (AJKYF) over the visit of Delimitation Commission delegation in J&K in a press statement issued here today.
Sharma said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had stated that the 2021 national census would be done fully digitally through a mobile phone application and the reference date will be 1 March 2021 in most of the country and 1 October 2020 for Jammu and Kashmir and some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, but despite remaining to his own statement, being power hungry and befooling the people of J&K a delegation of delimitation commission has visited the Union Territory.
Through various press statements, Union Government has time and again said that the Centre is ready with a list of states and Union Territories for the first digital National Population Register (NPR) under census 2021 putting newly created Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir on top where the mammoth exercise would start in September 2020 which was also one of the false promises for whole national is general and J&K in particular.
He further said that the 16th Indian census has to be take place in 2021 which is an attempted to estimate the population based on Socio-Economic and Caste Status for the first time since 1931 and without doing so the exercise being done by the Union Government is of no use. The Delimitation/reservation of Constituencies- Parliamentary/Assembly/Panchayats and other Local Bodies is also done on the basis of the existing data base as on today through the Census.
Sharma added that even after neglecting their own promises and the law of land, where an big effort is being done for delimitation of Assembly Segments of J&K, Government should also look for enhancement of parliamentary seats of J&K which is a long pending demand of the general public.
