JAMMU, July 7: Eminent theatre actor, director and light designer and an alumni of Bharatendu Natya Academy, Manoj Kumar Mishra featured today at Natrang's National Theatre Talk Show, 'Young Voices of Theatre' today. He shared his inspirational views with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu.
Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur stated that this talk show is featuring highly dedicated young voices of theatre spread across the country who have earned a distinctive name for themselves with their outstanding contribution in the field of contemporary Indian Theatre. Born and brought up in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, Manoj started his career in theatre at the age of six years, when he performed in a school play and later got the association of Natya Guru Hanumant Kishore and Chandrashekhar Pandey of Rewa city.
After a gap of six years, he joined a theatre workshop held in Rewa which was conducted by National School of Drama in 1998 and learnt the nuances of on stage and back stage culture. Mask making and light designing was the most favourite art for Manoj. Manoj got the training of 'Yakshagana' under the guidance of Padmashree Shambhu Hegde and in 2004 he reached Bhopal to learn different shades of theatre from Alkhanandan. He has the credit of performing lead characters in a number of plays and fortunately in 2006 got admission in BNA, Lucknow for further studies in theatre.
Manoj established a group namely Mandap Arts, started directing plays and simultaneously initiated working as assistant art director in some films and serials, which lead to the learning of theatrical sets for cheap. In addition to being a technical director at the Renaissance Cultural Centre, Gaya, he was a member of the admission committee of BNA teaching movements and lighting concepts. Manoj is currently working with Mandap Arts for his experiments in direction and acting.
Natrang's core team which is managing this national event includes Suresh Kumar, Neeraj Kant, Anil Tickoo, Sumeet Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Vikrant Sharma, Mohammad Yaseen, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Gauri Thakur and Chander Shekhar.
