JAMMU, July 7: The Festival of Trees concluded at GGM Science College Jammu with the pledge to grow more and more trees
A seven day Van Mahotsava week 01-07th July 2021 concluded at GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan celebrating Azadi ka amrutmahotsav with the message to love, care, nurture plants.
NSS volunteers planted trees at their homes and surroundings. The volunteers planted Aloe vera, Mint, Rose, Tulsi, Orange, Hill lemon, Tomatoes, Mulberry, Pomegranate, Lemon, Marigold, Laquat, Giloy, Chilli pepper, Capsicum, Carom(ajwain), Neem, Snake plant, Bitter gourd, Turmeric, Century plant, Jamun tree, Hydrangea, Peach, Mango, Guava, Brinjal, Florist kalanchoe, Money plant, Amaryllis lily, Cardamom (Elachi), Bottle brushes, Indian gooseberry (amla) and various ornamental plants.
The message was clear more trees, more life. They clicked pictures planting trees having captions the importance and the name of the sapling and posted them on various social media platforms to create awareness among the masses. Planting more trees helps to maintain healthy soils and humidity levels in the air around the world. Trees love us selflessly. They offer shelter, delicious foods and beautiful life, give us fresh strength by purifying air best easily available oxygen generators. Trees help in lowering the carbon footprint maintaining the ecological balance.
The Van Mahotsav is celebrated every year in the first week of July to raise awareness of tree plantation and forest conservation. The festival of trees ended with the pledge "Don't make trees rare, keep them with care" to grow more and more trees as Trees are the lungs of the world our green gold.
