Jammu, Oct 23: Lashing out at the Government for taking unilateral decision on JK Land Act for Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities, the Mahajan Sabha said that with limited permission on sale and purchase of agriculture land, the Government has made them as second class citizens.
While addressing press conference, the President Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Ramesh Chander Gupta said that the amendment made in Land Act has been made without applying logic and keeping constitution of India in mind. “Main issues in sale and purchase of agriculture land by Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities remain unaddressed. When all laws are equal for every citizen in JK then why this disparity has been created by government” he said.
Expressing shock over the BJP spokespersons, who welcomed the decision, Gupta said that it is beyond the his knowledge that what was the basis of welcoming the decision.
“BJP Spokespersons Sunil Sethi, Ramesh Arora, who held press conference for welcoming the decision, are law and constitution knowing persons yet they termed it good decision d
‘Govt forcing Mahajans to leave J&K, settle somewhere else’
spite the fact that there is nothing good in it which doesn’t give equal land rights to these communities” he said.
He said that their community has contributed a lot in the economy and for welfare of the people but they have been graded as second class citizens.
“After abrogation of article of 370, all laws of center were implemented but in case of land act , they were ignored. With such kind of decision, government has been creating differences with other communities as this order doesn’t give equal rights to our communities at par with others,” he said.
He appealed the govt to revisit their decision so that justice might be done to them.
PM Narendra Modi has given slogan of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas aur Sabka Vishwas” but the same is not implemented on ground in reality. The other communities don’t need to take such permission from any authority whereas Mahajans, Khatries and Sikhs, are being subjected to it.
He made a fervent appeal to the LG administration to not harass the community and issue a proper notification for this amendment, which is acceptable to stake holders.
