'Padhe Bharat Scheme' running successfully in District Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: 'Padhe Bharat Scheme' which was started since January 2022 and will culminate in the month of April 2022, is a initiative of Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and has been successfully running in the District Udhampur under the overall supervision of Chief Education Officer Udhampur and assisted by District Nodal Officer of Padhe Bharat Scheme Rakesh Singh DRG/DICC and Mohd Tufail DRG. The objective of the scheme is to make reading joyful by providing opportunities to the students to read with joy story books, comics which are illustrated with pictures. Due to the COVID guidelines this scheme is in progress through virtual mode and overwhelming response of the students who are facilitated by the Teachers, parents, volunteers is a matter of great satisfaction. This scheme is launched for a period of 100 days divided into 14 weeks for the children studying in Balvatika to Grade II who are further categorized in three groups class wise: Group I (Balvatika to Grade II), Group II (Grade III to Grade V) and Group III (Grade VI to grade VIII) and students has to undertake one activity per week depending on their class which is designed with the focus on making reading enjoyable and build lifelong association with the joy of reading. In Udhampur the scheme is successfully running in all 11 Zones by the respective Zonal Nodal Officers who are continuously motivating the parents, PRIs, volunteers to perform reading activities as per the approved calendar of SCERT and also ensuring maximum participation of the students from their respective zones. Digital posters are shared regularly by the DNOs along with weekly Parents Teachers meeting in order to reach the maximum students for providing them benefit of reading campaign. Chief Education Officer Arvin Kumar Koul also asked to all volunteers and students to celebrate 21st February as international mother tongue day with the activity of Kahani Padho Apni Bhasha Mein encouraging children to read in their mother tongue as per guidelines to promote the learning through mother tongue in primary classes as envisaged in National Education Policy 2020.
