Nowshera Forest Division conducts plantation drive

NOWSHERA, Feb 2: A plantation drive under the theme "Har Gaon HariyalI" was held at Panchayat Lower Bhajwal of Sunderbani Forest Range. The Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera, Neelima Shah, Susheel Soodan prominent social worker, Sarpanchs from adjoining Panchayats, Panchs and several women from the adjoining area participated in this drive. Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera, Neelima Shah while addressing the participants gave a detail importance and objectives of Har Gaon Hariyali programme. She said that 95 Panchayats falls under the territorial jurisdiction of Nowshera Forest Division and all the Panchayats are covered under 'Har Gaon Hariyali'. A total of 37600 plants were planted under the scheme and 83400 seed balls of different species were also broadcasted and distributed among the Panchayats. The plantation drive was conducted at a cremation ground here at Bhajwal in which 200 pits were dug out by the locals.
Susheel Kumar said that they aim to plant the sapling in the memory of their dears who have left for heavenly adobe. Further the place will be developed as Samriti Van in the future and local people will be encouraged to plant sapling in the memory of their dear ones.
Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani speaking on the occasion said that Sunderbani Forest Range has covered all the 38 Panchayats falling under the territorial jurisdiction of Sunderbani Forest Range. The plantation drive was organized by Yash Pal Sharma, Block Officer Kangri with active support of Ved Parkash, Block Officer Deval/Dharamsaal and Rangeel Singh, Block Officer Sunderbani.
Susheel Kumar presented vote of thanks to Neelima Shah, Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera who herself took part in plantation drive. He also thanked Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani along with his staff members who organized the plantation drive.
