SUNDERBANI, Feb 15: Sunderbani block has remained least and last precedence for the higher authorities, who have allegedly maintained criminal silence, reasons best known to them. Sources said that despite disclosure of one after another scam ACD and BDO office Sunderbani are acting naïve and apparently supporting the people involvinhg in graft in hushing up the matter.
"In Panchayat Nala of Sunderbani block alone, many cases of graft in MGNREGA scheme and 14 FC projects have been exposed, but instead of acting strict against the culprits, the higher authorities are providing them a window to cover their misdeeds," said sources adding that already number of complaints have been submitted with the senior officers like ACD and BDO, but they remained ignored.
Sources maintained that matter of graft was brought into the notice of former BDO Raman Kumar Sharma time to time, but he did not take any action. "Many videos were made viral, but instead of acting against the accused, the administration went into damage control mode by threatening and pressurizing the whistleblowers," said sources, adding that instead of calling for a strong investigation against such elements, department is pressurizing the whistleblowers to hush up the matter.
"People have filed various RTIs against many loopholes in the developmental projects, including MGNREGA, but as of now administration keeps it hanging," said sources, adding that even in many instances BDO office blatantly refused to provide information. Meanwhile, locals in the area demanded an independent enquiry into all the complaints by outsider officers, especially of the developmental work of last five years.
