Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 15: The deplorable condition of Narwal Mandi road, which is one of the busiest roads, has exposed the tall claims of the government making Jammu Smart City. The entire stretch from Panama Chowk to Nawal Mandi is in dilapidated condition due to widening work.
Huge potholes, ditches developed across roads which are more than a kilometre have become an uphill task for the commuters to pass through this piece of this road. The traffic jam has become a common scenario on this road as vehicles can be seen moving at snail pace. The entire area remains full of dust due to the bad condition of this road.
Commuters alleged that their vehicles suffer huge damage due to huge potholes and ditches as their vehicles fall on them and cause them damage. The widening work has been going at snail pace and doesn’t seem to be finished in the near future. The situation turns grim during night hours due to absence of light. The locals alleged that only those roads are in good condition, where toll plazas have been installed. The LG administration hardly bothers to pay heed towards the internal roads in the city which are in bad condition. The bureaucrats prefer to avoid this stretch and take other long routes due to the grim condition of the road.
