‘Tender on hiring private vehicles by ZPHQ Jammu draws criticism’
Transport community Jammu accuses of discrimination, favouritism
3/5/2022 1:48:53 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 4: Transport community of Jammu today accused the ZPHQ Jammu of discrimination and favouritism in seeking tender for hiring private vehicles especially the conditions which have mentioned for qualifying by a bidder.
Pankul Vaid, while talking to Early Times informed that ZPHQ invites tender hiring private vehicles every year from Jammu regions as well as from Kashmir region but this time conditions which have been mentioned in tender are different for both regions.
“Very tough conditions have been kept for Jammu transporters to qualify in tender process while huge relaxation has been given to the Kashmir counterparts. In order to participate in the tender process minimum 30 vehicles should be registered in the name of a firm which means that only 2-3 firms which qualify in this condition while for Kashmir transporters no such condition has been kept only minimum 5 vehicles should be registered,” he alleged.
He further said that another condition which clearly shows discrimination is that last three years of work experience has been sought from Jammu transporter while for Kashmir any three years of experience has been sought. “We all know that due to COVID pandemic there was a complete slump in transport business, so how can we give work experience,” he alleged.
He further said that the private transporter services are hired for mobilization of police personnel during elections, Amarnath yatra etc but shockingly tender is being sought very hurriedly when elections are uncertain and there is a lot of time for commencement of yatra.
He appealed to the LG Manoj K Sinha to intervene in the matter so that justice should be done to all transporters of Jammu. He demanded that this tender should be cancelled and new tender should be floated with equal conditions.
