Phalgam Sigdi residents rue non availability of road connectivity

Jammu, Mar 11: The people of remote Phalgam village in Sigdi area of Mughalmaidan Tehsil in Kishtwar District today held a strong protest against the government failure to construct the road up to the village having the population based on approximately 2500 souls.
As per the details available with Early Times, the protest was lead by Imam Jamia Masjid Phalgam Abdul Qayoom who slam the successive governments for their failure to construct the road up to the village which is 7-8 KM away from the main road passing through the area.
Imam Abdul Qayoom said that due to non availability of road, the people are facing lot of inconvenience; particularly during winter and in emergencies with regard to shifting of patients to nearby hospital added that the students of the area also suffered and was forced to travel 9/10 KM on foot to reach the High School as well as the nearest Higher Secondary School.
“We have approached various quarters including local administration, senior government officials, political parties- but no one listen to us- no one understands our sufferings and the trauma through which we people are undergoing through- it seems that all our requests goes to deaf ear” said Abdul Qayoom.
The villagers said that they too faces problem to carry the ration on foot from nearby government ration depot and urged upon the LG led government and the administration to work towards proposal for construction of road for the village.
They said that if any road project stands sanctioned for the village, the work on the same must be started without any further delay.
“We are hopeful that LG administration will listen to us and sanctioned road for village Phalgam Sigdi- in case of failure- we will start an agitation till desire results could be achieved” said the villagers added that they have left with no other option other than to hit the roads to press for genuine demand since even after 75 years of Independence, the village which is around 50 KM from District Headquarter is without road.
