JK’s LG admin couldn’t fill even 8 % of posts in last 3 years
Country’s jobless capital

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: What could expose the shirker mode of functioning of LG administration in Jammu and Kashmir is the fact that in the past three years, out of the identified 26303 posts, recruitment has been made on mere 2100 posts which is not even 8 percent of the target achievement.
On Wednesday, the government on the issue of unemployment stated in the parliament that 26,303 posts have been identified in the state since 2019, and the process of hiring was underway. A total of 841 appointments were made in 2020-2021 and 1,264 were hired in 2021-2022.
Such figures have once again exposed the ruthless dilatory mode of functioning in Jammu and Kashmir and how least efforts are being made to ensure the end of surging joblessness in the erstwhile state.
Pertinently, in the recent past a report titled “Periodic Labour Force Survey April-June 2021” released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation revealed that the unemployment figures among educated youth in J&K have reached 46.3 percent, the second-highest in India.
Also, the parliamentary committee report noted that that 20,323 posts have been advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board since the year 2020 and presently the selection process has been completed with respect to 9,205 posts, while selection for the remaining posts is under process at various stages. It states that the committee recommends to fast track the recruitment on the remaining posts and resolve the procedural/ administrative issues which are delaying the recruitment.
Reports further inform that out of the 20,323 posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board since the year 2020, the selection process has been completed with respect to 9205 posts, while the rest of more than 11 thousand posts are lying vacant.
Pertinently, in the recent past, instead of referring the posts to the recruitment agencies, the Jammu and Kashmir administration cancelled the posts en-masse that were advertised post October 2019. This measure led severe disgruntlement among the youth. However, no remedial measure was taken. According to an official communiqué of the General Administration Department dated February 3, 2022, “All posts referred to JKPSC/SSB prior to 31.10.2019, for which selections have not been finalized till date, as also the posts in which there are litigations and the cases are pending in court shall be deemed to have been withdrawn with immediate effect”.
