JAMMU, Apr 18: As part of the fortnight celebrations of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Foundation Day, Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Kavinder Gupta launched a cleanliness drive at Matakali Temple in Bahu Fort here today.
Today’s cleanliness drive was carried out under the active supervision of BJP District President Vinay Gupta, Corporator Sharda and Incharge Karuna Chettri while Narinder Gupta Koki Secretary, Ankush Gupta General Secretary and President of Mandir Market Committee Pankaj were also present.
During the programme, Kavinder Gupta along with others felicitated sanitation workers who played a vital role in maintaining cleanliness in the temple premises.
In his address, Kavinder Gupta said that Bharatiya Janata Party has been organizing multiple programmes as part of the party’s Foundation Day fortnight celebrations. These programmes include awareness programmes about various schemes launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union Govt for the welfare of the common people.
The senior BJP leader said that BJP has been holding various camps for distributing Ayushman cards among beneficiaries, providing old age and widow pension cards to the eligible persons; providing domicile certificates, distributing e-Shram cards, etc to the people.
He said that the aim of holding these programmes is to make the people aware about the achievements of the BJP Govt at the Centre on one hand and at the same time ensuring that the benefit of the schemes launched by the BJP Govt reaches each and every person right upto the tail end.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that sanitation workers are a very important people for us and they deserve salutations and must be honoured by one and all. It is because of them that cleanliness is maintained in the city, he asserted.
Kavinder said that thousands of people visit the Bawe Wali Mata Temple daily to pay their obeisance and the environment here should be absolutely clean and serene. He said that the cleanliness drive organized here today should not remain a one day affair.
“I appeal to all the people to make cleanliness exercise a daily routine. We must consider cleanliness as our first and foremost duty and not only maintain cleanliness at homes but ensure that our surroundings are also clean and green,” he added.
Kavinder reiterated that PM Modi led Govt at the Centre stands fully committed to the welfare of the common people and the people must further strengthen his hands for a clean and green nation for which he launched the mega Swachhata Abhiyan across the nation a few years back.
Among others who were present include Rajive Chark, Mandal President Gandhi Nagar Lucky Puri, District Vice President Vivek Patyal, State Secretary BJYM Sunny Sangotra, Sumit, Mandal Secretary Ajay Kumar Sharma, Senior BJP leader Capt. Moti Ram, Senior BJP leader Mukitar Singh, Hardesh Khokhar, Secretariat District BJYM Rinku Gandotra, General Secretariat Sajan Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Mohinder Singh, Paul, Munish Adhikari, Neelkhanth, Shipra and other prominent leaders.
