Killings of unarmed cops, non-locals going unabated; tall claims of publicity-hungry LG administration exposed

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 18: Gruesome killing of a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable has exposed tall claims of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration as terrorists striking at their will in different parts of Kashmir Valley. Killings of unarmed cops and non-locals are going unabated in Kashmir Valley but those sitting at the helm of the affairs are busy in getting cheap publicity.
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu on April 24, terrorists have intensified killings of non-locals and cops to mark their presence. The recent killings have not only exposed claims of the LG administration but also created fear psychosis among non-locals living in different parts of the Kashmir Valley and cops of the different wings of J&K Police engaged in anti-terror operations. Reports said that an RPF personnel was killed while another was injured in a terror attack in the Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
An official said that two cops of railway police of Kakapora Railway station were at a tea stall outside the railway station when they were attacked by terrorists.
He said that in the incident both Head Constable Surinder Singh and Sub-Inspector Dev Raj received critical injuries and Singh died before reaching the hospital while Dev Raj was shifted to tertiary care hospital Srinagar where his condition is stated as critical. Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. Kashmir zone police in a tweet said: “Terrorists fired upon RPF personnel at Kakapora, Pulwama. In this incident, two RPF personnel sustained bullet injuries and were evacuated to the hospital, where one RPF personnel succumbed and attained martyrdom. Area cordoned off”. Shockingly killings of cops and non-locals have intensified after Union Home Secretary reviewed the security scenario in Kashmir Valley. On April 15, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla reviewed the security scenario in Kashmir Valley.
Bhalla, accompanied by Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) Arvind Kumar and other senior officers of the Union Home Ministry, was on a two-day visit to Kashmir to assess the ground situation especially the security and arrangements for the Amarnath yatra. The security review meeting that was held here was attended by the Director-General of J&K Police, Dilbag Singh, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Director General Border Security Forces, Additional Director General CRPF besides senior police, para-military and Intelligence, and officers from the Civil administration.
