NHM employees protest, seek continuation of services
4/19/2022 12:08:30 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 18: A large number of NHM employees today staged a strong protest near Dogra Chowk, demanding regularization and continuation of their services.
The protesting employees were raising slogans in support of their demands. They also tried to block the road at Dogra Chowk, however, a strong contingent of police foiled their bid to sit on dharna.
Protesting NHM employees then made an attempt to move towards Raj Bhavan but the police personnel prevented them from marching ahead. A minor scuffle took place between the protesters and the cops. The protestors said that they had put their lives at risk when COVID-19 hit the country. “We were deputed to several GMCs and district hospitals last year at the peak of the COVID-19 when no one wanted to leave their homes.
“We were promised that our services will be regularized if we serve during the COVID period but in the month of September, we were handed over termination letters. Later, LG Manoj Sinha personally visited us at the protest site and assured 3 months of extension in services and priority in recruitment of regular posts,” he said.
A protester said that the ruling BJP also cheated us. “The J&K BJP president had assured us that he would take up our case with the government but it was just an assurance as nothing positive has happened so far. We get no extension in services and priority in regular posts, all the assurances from the government were verbal and no written order was passed in this connection,” he said.
The protesters said that they wanted all NHM employees to be adjusted and their services should be continued by the government.
