Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 17: All Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha, President, S. Manjit Singh has appealed to the Industries Department of Jammu Region to allot plots for the dairy form operators to run their milk products business smoothly.
A meeting was organised here at Rampur Mohalla, Nai Basti area near Satwari Chowk in Jammu District by the newly appointed District President of All J&K Jatt Sabha, Youth Wing, Shivam Choudhary.
The meeting was chaired by Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, who is also the President of the Sabha, and other senior leaders, including MLA Vikram Randhawa and District President Jammu Urban, and Ex-Corporator Dwarka Choudhary were also present there.
During the meeting, the Jatts expressed their concern over the unjustified harassment by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) of dairy farm owners, who produce milk products.
The repeated harassment by the JMC officials has affected the business growth and caused financial losses to the dairy farm owners.
In his address, Former Minister S. Manjit Singh extended his full support to the dairy owners, and condemned the attitude of some of the officials in JMC who harass the dairy farm owners/operators in Jammu Municipal Limits.
He demanded that the Industries Department in Jammu shall allot plots in favour of the dairy farms, so that they establish their units, and increase their productivity under a proper supervision of Industries Department, and training of how to scale-up production using modern techniques in milk product business.
He demanded that the Govt shall take a step so that the survival of the dairy owners, and workers can be protected, and they can be provided financial help under the promotion of milk product industries at the local level that would boost the economy in Jammu. Importantly, Jatt Community is mostly involved in milk production in Jammu region, and they require training, and support from the Govt, he added.
Meanwhile, MLA Vikram Randhawa also spoke on the occasion, expressing surprise over the plight of the milk suppliers from the Jatt community.
He also addressed the issue of Displaced Persons asking the Govt to address their long standing demands, and provide employment opportunities to the unemployed educated youth of the Jatts.
He raised concern over the growing drug addiction menace among the youth and measures to fight against the addiction that has given rise to multiple criminal activities. He demanded involvement of community leaders, families, and the police to deal with the drug addiction menace, and their rehabilitation.
Ex-Corporator, and District President Jammu Urban, Jatt Sabha, Dwarka Choudhary also addressed the meeting.
Mandeep Choudhary, President Youth Wing Jatt Sabha, and Youth President of Jammu District, Shivam Choudhary also spoke on the issue confronted by the community.
