| HC clears way for Mendhar mini secretariat as Rs 15.31 Cr project gets sanction | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 12: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh cleared the way for completion of the long-pending Mendhar Mini Secretariat after the Union Territory government informed the Court that administrative approval has been granted for the Rs 15.31 crore project. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal was hearing CPPIL No. 1/2018 arising out of PIL No. 22/2016. During the proceedings, the respondents placed on record Government Order No. 05-JK (REV) of 2026 dated 10.02.2026, according sanction for execution of the project titled “Completion of District Administrative Offices (Mini Secretariat) at Mendhar”. The Court was informed that out of the total estimated cost of Rs 15.31 crore, an amount of Rs 7.25 crore has already been utilised, and that the tendering process has been initiated with bids received and presently under evaluation. In view of the latest developments, the Bench observed that nothing substantive survives in the PIL. Counsel for the petitioners consented to disposal of the petition but sought liberty to revive the matter if no meaningful progress is made on the ground. Accepting the submissions, the High Court disposed of the PIL with liberty to the petitioners to move an appropriate application for restoration, if required. The order is expected to accelerate the long-awaited completion of the Mini Secretariat, a key public infrastructure project for Mendhar area. (JNF) |
