Srinagar to get 150 more fountains this summer as Jammu craves for water

Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: Come summers and the summer capital of Srinagar is likely to have over 148 more fountains across various roads in the city whereas no such plan seems to be in place for Jammu, the city that craves for water during the scorching heat. In yet another initiative that is aimed at modernization of Srinagar, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation is planning to construct the foundations in all the 74 wards with each ward getting at least two such fountains as a part of the multi-crore project. The beautification is expected to cost over Rs 10 crore. Sources said each of wards has been granted Rs 45 lakh of budget for such developmental works. The SMC has taken this lead after being ranked first among the cleanest towns and cities in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu city, on the other hand, continues to be the tale of apparent discrimination and neglect. A few months ago, Srinagar was ranked first among 78 urban local bodies in Jammu and Kashmir in Swatch Survekshan League SSL 2020.
