Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: A debt ridden 36-year old street vendor Tilak Raj committing a suicide by hanging himself inside his house in Doda district has punctured the tall claims of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders that their party is committed to make J&K economy “vibrant and prosperous.” Bheja Panchayat Naib Sarpanch, Satish Kumar, while expressing grief over Raj’s death said that the deceased was very poor. “Raj was under depression as he was unsuccessful in fighting poverty. He was unable to clear his debts and make his both ends meet,” Kumar added. The deceased is survived by his grandmother, wife and five minor daughters. Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: By-election to over 12,500 panchayat seats in Jammu and Kashmir would be held in eight phases from March 5, the Union Territory''s Chief Electoral Officer Shailender Kumar said on Thursday. Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 13: Even as the government launched the much-hyped Market Intervention Scheme for fruit growers in Kashmir, the MIS has helped Kashmir earn a whopping Rs 70 crore from the deal within six months, whereas Jammu region only craves for such schemes. Official sources told Early Times that around 16,000 metric tons of apples were procured from the Kashmiri fruit growers after the launch of the special scheme in September of 2019. Agencies New Delhi, Feb 13: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested yet another person in connection with the case of suspended J&K Police DSP Davinder Singh who was caught red-handed escorting terrorists out of the Kashmir Valley last month. The latest person to be arrested in this case is former president of the LoC Traders' Association Tanveer Ahmed Wani. He is the sixth person to be arrested in this case.
