Amid privatisation clatter, Power Deptt employees face salary crisis

Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2: Amid clatter for privatisation of the Power Department, newly created power corporations in Jammu and Kashmir have failed to disburse regular salaries to over 30,000 employees for the past two months. According to sources, over 30,000 workers in Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) have not received their salaries for December and January months. “The employees including the senior officials such as Executive Engineers as well as Chief Engineers have been facing hurdles on account of regular payment of salaries,” an official said. Sources further disclosed that usually the salary of the staff is met out of “Grant in Aid” from the government and same is regulated on advance drawl basis at Secretariat level. “The procedure of giving salary through Grant-in-Aid, is bit ineffective as final settlement of expenditure accounts throughout the J&K is still pending from the date of emergence of corporations”, the sources said, adding that due to delay in regular disbursement ...

The positive cases reached 1, 24,594 with 44 new cases; death toll reached 1,938 with two deaths being reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours.
