Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 3: The failure of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to provide portable drinking water to rural populace in Jammu division and to make the augmentation scheme functional over a period of seven years has resulted in unfruitful expenditure of Rs 78.28 lakh and blocking of Rs 39 lakh. Documents in possession of Early Times reveal that in order to augment the supply of potable water to the local inhabitants of villages Alyia, Bissi Kalakot and Dehari, the Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division, Reasi proposed (2006) an ‘Improvement/ augmentation of water supply scheme Alyia’ at an estimated cost of Rs 1.19 crore. The scheme was designed to provide potable water to estimated population of 5,386 in the next 15 years against the existing population of 1,586 inhabiting these villages. The Detailed Project Report for the scheme was approved (2011-12) at cost of Rs 1.17 crore with funding from NABARD-National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and the State Government in the ratio of 90:10 with the stipulated co...

Illegal allotment of tenders: ACB arrests former J&K Bank chairman

Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 3: Former chairman of J&K Bank Parvez Ahmad Nengroo was arrested on Saturday in connection with a case of illegal allotment of tenders for housekeeping that led to a loss of crores of rupees to the bank, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said. The ACB had registered a case in October last year against a private firm and three former bank officials, including Ahmad, for allegedly causing a Rs 6.92-crore loss to the bank by not following tendering rules. Except formally launching the census for publicity Seven months have passed after the 'launching' of the first census of water bodies of J&K but no progress in this regard has been made. Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 3: All the vehicles with registration number of other states but plying in Jammu and Kashmir for a period exceeding one year, are to be mandatorily re-registered in Union Territory as per the provisions of Motor Vehicles (Amendments) Act 2019. Agencies NEW DELHI, Apr 3: The Union health ministry on Saturday directed states and Union Territories not to register healthcare and frontline workers (HCWs and FLWs) for the vaccination process as some "ineligible" beneficiaries were getting their names enlisted in violation of rules.
