Early Times Report Jammu, July 18: The BJP leadership is finding it difficult to appoint a new president of Ladakh UT due to infighting within the party and apprehensions of the Ladakh unit of the party against Jammu based leaders. Credible sources said Jammu based were desperately trying to appoint their choice as new president of Ladakh UT but local leadership has made it clear that imposition of president by Jammu based leaders would not be accepted by them. Local leaders are demanding that former president and ex-minister Chering Dorjay should be again made president of the party. As per reports in a section of media, after party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav, the BJP high command has deputed general “all powerful” Ashok Koul to hold discussions with local leaders to finalise the name of Ladakh president. Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 18: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 236 as five more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 441 fresh cases of COVID-19 today. Reports said that one death each was reported from Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam and Bandipora districts of the Kashmir valley. The Kashmir valley has so far reported 218 COVID-19 related deaths while as number of such deaths in Jammu are 18.
