Senior Forest officials embezzle Rs 12 lakhs

Early Times Report Rajouri, Aug 18: Senior officials of Forest Department Rajouri have allegedly embezzled Rs 12 lakhs in creation of closure by Forest division Nowshera. Sources in the department informed that few years ago, Forest Department Rajouri had created a closure under compartment number 116/N Peerbandesar in Nowshera at the cost of Rs 16 lakhs under the supervision of concerned Range Officer, Block Officer and District Rajouri. "In this closure, the plantation of around 16000 saplings of different varieties was to be carried out but as a matter of fact only 1000-1500 saplings were planted and it is claimed that only Rs 4 lakhs were spent and rest of the fund which was around Rs 12 lakhs was embezzled by the seniors," they alleged further adding that number of complaints were lodged against this issue to the head office of the department by the local people who noticed the scam in the scheme. Saahil Suhail Early Times Report anantnag, Aug 18: Instances of candidates submitting dubious Schedule Tribe (ST) certificates in recently held recruitment drives have come to light in south Kashmir's Bijbehara area. The district administration acting upon the complaints have now kept at least seven certificates in abeyance and process to recover these ST certificates from the candidates has begun.
