Jammu, May 15: Yet another case of nepotism has come to fore in Central University Jammu (CUJ) which is already is in the dock over various cases of malpractice and favoritism.
Sources told Early Times that former vice-chancellor Dr S S Billoria had appointed two persons on administrative posts, throwing rule books in dustbin. "According to varsity's statutes a person cannot get an administrative post after age of 62 years, but Dr Billoria who was the first VC of the university, made illegal appointments by throwing all norms to winds," they said.
Dr Biloria, appointed 67 year old Prof RN Sharmaas Dean Student Welfare, while University of Jammu's controversial former registrar Dr D S Pathaina who was on contract as consultant was also given the coveted post of Controller Examination.
Both these blue eyed officers, according to the sources, had to step down against their wishes, soon after Prof Ashok Aima took over as the new Vice-Chancellor of the CUK.
"Prof Aima has been trying to rectify the mistakes made of his predecessors, since the day he took charge of VC, CUJ. Enquiries, to unearth misconducts of blue eyed officers will be ordered soon", they said.
"The administration has received complaints against Prof RN Sharma and Dr DS Pathaina for misusing their official position. Students were charged Rs 2500 as mess charges by the administration, but it was learnt that Rs 1700 is still being paid to contractor for the food, where as remaining amount is still being pocketed by some officials", they said and also alleged that Prof RN Sharma had purchased furniture, curtain and fixed electric transformers from University's exchequer."
They further said Rs 2 lakhs were withdrawn for carpentry works in the University, but on ground, the carpenter engaged by the University has not received money.
"It is still a mystery where Rs two lakhs have gone and the incumbent VC is reportedly yet to order an enquiry", they added.
