Director Edu refuses to meet teachers for asking questions | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: The Director School Education Jammu on Monday got so much infuriated by a simple suggestion of a teacher that she refused to meet the teachers who were waiting outside her office for redressal of their grievances. Outgoing Director School Education Jammu, Simrandeep Singh had put in place a system according to which she would meet teachers from 3 pm to 5 pm for redressal of their grievances. "That system still continues, and on Monday, many teachers had assembled outside the Director's office. At around 3:15 pm, the newly appointed Director, Yasha Mudgal came out of her office and reprimanded the teachers waiting in queue," said a teacher, pleading anonymity. He said, "When the Director was scolding the teachers, terming them 'ill mannered', one of the waiting teachers put forth a suggestion and asked the Director to make a system to meet teachers. This suggestion infuriated the Director and she started asking for the person." "Firstly bring that person who sought a system, otherwise I will not meet anyone," said the teacher. He said, "That person had already disappeared from the scene and the Director didn't relent." Another teacher said she and her colleagues were made to wait till 4 pm but the Director didn't give up and left her office in resentment without them. "Unlike previous Directors, this Director is treating us like animals. So what if she happens to be an IAS officer? After all she is a government servant as we are. She is on the chair for redressal of our issues but she is considering herself as something special. After becoming Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar had assured that he would introduce transparent transfer policy, but so far no such policy has been introduced. With the result, the 'transfers industry' has started working round the clock according to whims and fancies of bureaucrats and other stakeholders," the teachers said. "Earlier also the influential teachers had been enjoying postings in cities and same is the case today. Many teachers have been serving in far flung areas for years together while their influential colleagues are living in cities," they said and appealed the Education Minister to do needful for teachers' fraternity which had pinned hopes on the new dispensation. |
