SRINAGAR, Nov 24: The "mis-management" of JK Cements Limited authorities can be gauged from the fact that its productions goes up when engineers from other states run it. Authorities have been often saying that JK Cements obsolete machinery was the main reason for its poor production. Surprisingly its production goes up when engineers from other states run the state owned cement plant.
Official sources said engineers from other states on the request of authorities had visited the cement plant few times for the past few years and during that time the production of JK Cements had gone up, which shows the "mis-management" of its authorities.
"Government may be blaming the old machinery for decline in cement production but engineers from other states were able to increase its production which proves that JK Cements engineers are not competent enough in running the plant," official sources revealed.
The JKCL has been struggling for its survival for the past few years since its production has declined around 80 percent. The JK Cements has two plants with individual capacity of around 600 tonnes per day which has declined to 80 percent now.
"It is mandatory for these engineers to remain available at the site but they prefer their posting in offices without bothering to visit the site in Khrew on the pretext of getting infected due to cement dust," the official said.
Sources said some of the employees have raised the issue with the authorities several times to make posting of engineers only at the cement plant, but to no avail. Sources said government had failed to take any measures in reviving the cement plant and non-technical persons have had been heading it for the past several years.
Officials blame the government's "ill-policies" for decline in its production, which has almost become defunct now.
