Bamboozle: Leased out 27 Kanals, Wave Mall gets 2 Kanals extra land

Jammu, Nov 24: In yet another instance of criminal irregularity, the notorious Revenue Department has allegedly 'gifted' two Kanals land more than leased out 27 kanals of land for construction of Wave Mall. The matter is being investigated by the State Vigilance Commission, since September 2016.
According to sources, 27 Kanals land was leased out for construction of Wave Mall, in Narwal area by the state government. "Concerned officers had handed over excess 2 Kanal land, worth more than 10 crores to the party", sources in SVC informed Early Times adding that it smelt use of money power to get additional land. The property belongs to liquor baron, Ponty Chadha who died in a shootout case in November 2012.
"It is also being alleged that there is no mention of Khasra of the land where wave mall is constructed", sources said and added in lease deed, only location was mentioned.
"According to deed, the leased land is located opposite Bathindi Sunjwan Morh", sources claimed. "The case is being investigated under complaint no 736/2016 before the SVC. During recently held proceeding of the case, the complainant has also produced lease deed, where in no mention of Khasra number is found", the sources claimed.
"The complainant, in his complaint alleged that due to fishy lease deed, the state exchequer suffered huge financial losses and the 'client' (lessee) has greased the palm of revenue officials for illegal benefits", they added.
Meanwhile, the sources said that complainant has also produced the supporting documents before the Commission. "Both parties, complainant and respondent were asked to appear, but the respondent skipped the proceeding", they said and added that several complainant of similar nature have been received by the commission.
"It is also observed that the officials are too keen to serve such deals for want of hefty amount", they added.
