Clashes in Baramulla after 2-youth booked under PSA | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 29: At least two youth on Friday were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) after which fresh clashes amid curbs continued in Old town of the north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Many youth took to streets after Friday prayers when the news about the slapping of PSA on two youth spread in the area. Shouting slogans, the youth attacked paramilitary CRPF and police with stones. The youth were protesting the slapping of PSA against Abdul Qayoom Najar and Majid Sheikh, both residents of Jamia Kadeem, who were arrested last week for their alleged involvement in stone pelting. The duo has been sent to Kupwara sub-jail. "The forces retaliated by lobbing dozens of tear smoke shells towards the protesters. In the ensuing clashes that continued till late evening, two people suffered minor injuries," reports said. Earlier, forces had blocked all the five bridges with barbed wire fearing protests against the arrest of the youth. At least two dozen youth have been arrested by police from Friday last for their alleged involvement in stone pelting. Elsewhere in the town, the situation was normal with shops, business establishments, schools and financial institutions open, while traffic was also plying normally.
