Jammu, Apr 3: Condemning the lathicharge on peaceful demonstration of Anganwari workers in Anantnag District on the other day, state committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) today staged protest outside the Press Club Jammu in winter capital. Hundreds of workers from different trade unions affiliated with CITU today assembled at Press Club Jammu and staged a day long protest to express their solidarity with Anganwari workers and against the police action of lathicharge on anganwari workers. Sham Parsad Kesar, Sr Leader of CITU strongly condemned the police action on peaceful demonstration of Anganwari employees who were protesting for their genuine demands. "Abdul Rashid Nazar, Secretary of CITU who led the protest and many other protestors sustained injuries during lathicharge resorted by the police, he said. Another leader Om Parkash said that no government can suppress the voice of workers and demanded disciplinary action against the police officer responsible for the lathicharge. CITU has urged upon the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter personally and settle the demand of the agitating anganwadi workers failing which the CITU affiliated federation on all India level shall give a called to stand behind these workers which will create uncontrollable situation for the J&K govt. Among other leaders included Kailash Chander Nayak, General Secretary, Railway Loading & Unloading, Ramesh Chand, Sr Leader, LIC, Sunita Bhagat, General Secretary, ASHA Workers Union - Jammu, Bawa Ram, Nirman Mazdoor Union, H.D.Bhomick, Indusrial Estate Workers Union, MuzaJwi Wani, Chairman Jammu-Udhampur Nation Highway Workers Union etc. |
