ET Report SAMBA, Apr 3: Seven days before militant attack on army camp at Janglote, an abandoned car was found in suspicious circumstances near main chowk of Samba town and investigators and locals are trying to establish between the abandoned car and the attackers. During morning hours of March 25th, a car bearing registration number UA07F-5744 was found parked 100 meters short of Samba chowk, which were seized by Samba police in late evening. However, some industry workers saw this car in industrial area of Samba with unidentified persons on that particular day. Some Fruit sellers also informed police that they had seen three persons getting out of car. A blanket and toll post receipts of Lower Munda, Srinagar toll plaza were recovered from inside the car. "In view of election rally of Ghulam Nabi Azad at Kathua and Modi's rally at Hiranagar, special nakas were deployed on different parts of national highway and it seems that after seeing stringent security arrangements, unidentified persons fled, leaving the car at Samba" said police official. Preliminary investigations revealed that this car belonged to one Nain Singh of Uttrakhand, who has sold the car to vegetable merchant in Uttar Pradesh. We tried to contact the merchant on phone, but he disconnected the calls and switched the phone off, since then his phone is switched off; we foul play, he added. According to SP Samba, Anil Magotra, matter still remains in ambiguity and probably occupants of car would have some kind of drug consignment. "We are trying to verify the facts and truth shall be brought out soon" he said and denied that abandoned car has any link with militant attack. |
