Pampore, Apr 3: A fresh batch of 82 aspiring entrepreneurs including 11 females today passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). The 82 candidates were trained at the institute's Pampore campus. The unemployed youth, who are all set to start their own business ventures now, were exposed to a comprehensive training course, Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) to equip them with knowledge and skill they need to start their profitable business. The three-week EDP was aimed at providing lessons on skill development, performance improvement as well as business cum sector specific trainings, leadership and self-development training to the aspiring entrepreneurs. They are exposed to a real-life business scenario through simulations. They also had interactions with successful entrepreneurs and technical experts from various fields. The aspiring entrepreneurs are from varied educational background including qualified engineers, doctors, management and commerce graduates. The candidates have registered for the Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) - a key component of the state government's Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY), and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme (YSLS) being implemented by JKEDI. Sharing his experiences about the training programme, Ashiq Hussain, a trainee said: "The three-week training programme is really comprehensive and I learnt almost all basic things needed to run a business successfully." Musaib, a 19-year-old boy from Srinagar and the youngest trainee in the whole batch said, "In this young age I have learnt big lessons of running a business after completing this training programme." The trained aspiring entrepreneurs are targeting business including manufacturing (22), services (45), food processing (04), and agri-allied sectors (11). The institute offers a platform to entrepreneurs to enable them to set up their ventures through a host of services like consultancy, information, training, education and finance. |
