Give admission to all deserving scholars or face agitation: SSJAC | Following protest, JU VC declares DRC meeting of DSRS null and void | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 3: Students Scholars Joint Action Committee (SSJAC) today reiterated its demand for admission to all deserving scholars in Jammu University and warned that any foul play on the part of varsity administration would lead to a massive agitation. Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University, declared the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) meeting of the Department for Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS) as 'null and void' following the pressure of SSJAC members who alleged that the meeting was conducted in utter violations of University Statutes and laid down norms. The SSJAC members comprising the scholars of DSRS came across the information that the DSRS was conducting DRC meeting in utter violation of University Statutes as it didn't take Dean Research Studies (DRS), Jammu University, Prof Posh Charak into confidence prior to conduct of DRC. "As per University Statutes, the DRC meeting should be chaired by the Dean Research Studies but he was not conveyed about today's meeting. Similarly, Dean Social Studies Jigar Mohammad, who is an important member of DRC, was also not informed about the meeting. The meeting was conducted in a hush-hush manner to deprive genuine scholars of their right which is not tolerated any cost," Varinder Singh Chib, SSJAC chairman told the Vice-Chancellor. The scholars from DSRS said the Director Baljeet Singh was creating unnecessary controversies and he had been adopting anti-scholar policies to spoil their future. "The direction should immediately be removed from the post to ensure fairness and transparency in the system. The meeting which has been held in utter violation of norms need to be declared null and void," they demanded. After listening to the grievances of the scholars, the Vice Chancellor declared the meeting null and void. |
