Jammu, July 14: Lambasting harshly the poor and feeble BSNL mobile service in Jammu ,Young Panthers staged a massive protest demonstration led by Pushvinder Singh Manhas Sr. Vice President Young Panthers along with hundreds of activists in front of BSNL head quarters at Bahu Plaza Jammu.
The protesters raised the slogans against the BSNL authorities and burnt the effigy of the service provider on the main road which led to a massive traffic jam for hours. Moreover, the protest succeeded to garner the support of the general public in large who has been bearing the brunt of the poor quality of mobile network service for a long time.
Pushvinder Manhas disclosed the media that the feeble BSNL mobile service has been causing a great inconvenience to the public and the distorted quality of the BSNL signal has hampered the communication links between the people when mobile service in this modern era is known as 'heart and soul " of the communication network."
The agitated protesters then marched towards the main entrance of the BSNL office where they were stopped by the security personnel. Pawan Dev Singh Secretary Young Panthers urged the Security Officer to call the concerned GM to redress their grievances who showed reluctance towards the request.
Not deterred by the obdurate attitude of the guards, the protesters surged into the premises of BSNL office and started raising slogans in the foyer. Pawan Dev apprised the media that poor BSNL mobile service has been causing problems for the rural people of Jammu District as well and demanded an early restoration of the service so that people are relieved from this menace.
The vociferous protests by the Panthers Party activists finally prompted the GM mobile services to intervene and take the cognisance of the serious issue raised by the leaders.
A K Mishra (GM) listened to the grievances of the protesters and disclosed that there are about 400 towers functional in the Jammu and out of these nearly 50 are defunct due to the technical snag which has been impeding the performance of the mobile services in the area. He assured the NPP leaders and the media that BSNL shall leave no stone unturned to restore the services.
