Alleging police inaction relatives of deceased stage protest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 14: Relatives of deceased Sunil Gupta, who died yesterday in a road mishap at flyover near Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu today staged a protest demonstration against the police for failing to arrest the accused and disrupt the vehicular traffic for some time. Pertinently, Sunil Gupta, a mechanic by profession, was knocked down to death by an unknown vehicle on the flyover near the Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) Jammu when he was returning home from his work last evening. The relatives alongwoth some locals assembled at Bakshi Nagar Chowk and blocked the main road near Gurha Morh raising slogans against the police alleging its failure to nab the guilty. Agitated relatives also placed the body of the deceased on the road to register their protest and created blockades to disrupt the traffic on the Gurha Morh Jammu. Raising slogans against police inaction, the protestors demanded immediate arrest of the culprit. One of the protestors said "Almost 24 hours have gone, police has so far not been able to identify the culprit", adding that the police so far has also not been able to trace the vehicle too. Later, it was the intervention of senior police officials the protestors were pacified to lift their protest and the normal traffic was restored |
