7/15/2014 12:39:25 AM

Kishtwar, July 14: Uncertainty looms over the future of state owned prestigious 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power Project after Bhartiya Janta Yuwa Morcha (BJYM) of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) stalled the construction work at project site forcing GVK Powers Limited and L&T to close the construction work on Friday evening which has brought all other stake holders to a common platform. Since Friday the ongoing construction work at project site reportedly is suspended and in a latest development other unions fighting for the engagement of local unemployed youths of Kishtwar district have come to a common platform forcing District Administration Kishtwar to reach out to the angry BJYM and other union heads to resolve the issue even by taking Construction companies and the agitating youths by calling a meeting of different stake holders at 3:00pm on Tuesday at new Complex of Office of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar.
Meantime BJYM activists led by Shashi Badyal today also called on DC Kishtwar at his office chamber and made it clear if company has no job for locals, than they have no right to work in this project. While talking to "Early times" Shashi Badyal said the project not is taking toll of the environment but also is sidelining the interests of the skilled and unskilled youth of Kishtwar. He acrimoniously said that the project is of no use for the people of Kishtwar in case the project management fails to provide jobs to the local unemployed youth and underlined that government must take up this sensitive matter with the project companies.
"After facing retrenchment at 390 MW Dul-Hasti Power project, I travelled across state including Krishan Ganga, Uri, Bagliar, Chenani and Nashri for job…. but I was chased, beaten up, " said Farooq Ahmed Tapal while recalling that he was beaten up at Bagliar and was put behind the bars for demanding job at 450 MW Baghliar power project. He and others said that they will not allow outsiders to work in Kishtwar project until and unless all unemployed youths of Kishtwar District get jobs.
