Ghonsla disappoints, time to introspect | | | Mannu/Deep
Jammu, July 18: The fifth production in the ongoing Jammu Natya Utsav entitled 'Ghonsla', despite being a good script matched to the contemporary situations arising out of familial circumstances where the children abandon their parents turned out to be a damp squib. While much theatrical activity are being witnessed in Jammu since long now, with most of the productions living up to normal to good expectations, today's solo performance held at K L Saigal Hall was an indication of over exhaustion of the ethics of drama that reflected very apparently. At the very outset, the first dialogue delivered by the performing actor Mohit Khajuria enacting a role of an elderly person gave an immediate mismatch of voice modulation, body gesture and the idiom of the character likely to wither away in his hands. And the rest of 20 minutes time was the accurate reciprocation of the audience' foreboding of the play going to take on their nerves. Why the Actors Academy group undertook this subject of a serious thought to wilt away through a not-so-perfect performer still remains a point to ponder. The unnecessary movement of the actor treading left to right and vice versa on the stage with lights too playing hide'n'seek was a total disappointment, which otherwise could have been managed by the actor while sitting whole time on the chair only. The instrumental rending on music taken from all time hit Mera Naam Joker though supported, but does not harmonized in requisites of the theme of the play. Actors' Academy needs a serious rethinking. |
