Nagrota may witness "Royal Contest": BJP thinking to field Vikramaditya against Ajatshatru | Dr Karan Singh's elder son approaches BJP for joining | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 18: The prestigious Nagrota Assembly segment may witness "Royal Contest" this time because M K Vikramaditya Singh, elder son of Dr Karan Singh has approached BJP to become member of the Saffron Party. Credible sources in the BJP said that party leadership is seriously considering to enrol Vikramaditya as member of the party and to field him as candidate from Nagrota Assembly segment which was represented by his younger brother M K Ajatshatru Singh from 1996 to 2002. Credible sources revealed that BJP has decided not to give mandate to Nand Kishore, younger brother of BJP state president Jugal Kishore Sharma. Due to the stand taken by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi against giving mandates to family members of leaders, there is remote chances of Nand Kishore to get the mandate. Jugal Kishore Sharma, who has won this seat in two successive terms of 2002 and 2008, is trying his best to get mandate for his brother but he would not be succeeded in his mission. Credible sources said that BJP has got the information that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's Man Friday, Devender Singh Rana is unlikely to get party mandate due to strong opposition within the party so it is believed that Ajatshatru would be NC's candidate from Nagrota segment. Amid reports that Ajatshstru Singh would be NC candidate from Nagrota segment, BJP is seriously considering to enrol Vikramaditya as party candidate to make the fight interesting. Vikramaditya Singh is elder son of Dr Karan Singh, who is son of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh. Dr Karan Singh and Ajatshatru Singh are active in politics but Vikramaditya always avoided politics. Recently he has approached BJP for joining the party. If Vikramaditya Singh joined BJP, there would be interesting development in the royal family because Dr Karan Singh is in Congress, his younger son Ajatshatru is in NC and Vikramaditya Singh would be in BJP. A senior BJP has recently admitted on record that Vikramaditya has approach the party. |
