Bhim terms rebels as political persons | Speaking separatists' language | | Neha
JAMMU, July 18 : Does the chief patron of JKNPP Bhim Singh represent nationalist sentiment in the real sense of the term or does he speak occasionally the language of separatists and those who have been attacking the institution of the India State? Sadly, Bhim Singh has been airing views which run counter to the stands of the integrationists on separatists, on those put behind bars on the ground that they indulged in anti-national activities, on the aggressor Pakistan and on the perpetrator of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, founder of dreaded Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Hafiz Saeed. Believe it or not, but it is a fact that he defended Ved Pratap Vaidik's meeting with Hafiz Saeed completely overlooking the fact that the said controversial meeting had caused a furore across the nation as well as in the Parliament, with the Congress and similar other outfits denouncing the meet and demanding stringent action against Vaidik and the government dissociating itself from what Vaidik did and said in Pakistan on June 29 and July 2. Bhim Singh said Vaidik committed no wrong. He said so four days ago while participating in a television (ABP News) debate on the subject. And on Thursday, Bhim Singh termed those booked in Kashmir under various charges, including anti-national activities, as political prisoners and demanded their unconditional release. By terming the undesirable elements, who were booked on the ground that they committed crimes, as political prisoners, Bhim Singh undoubtedly spoke the language of Pakistan, Geelani, Mirwaiz, Yasin Malik and so on and created serious problems for his party, which has already lost most of its sheen and appeal. He in a rejoinder to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also threatened that "he shall knock the doors of the Supreme Court of India to ensure delivery of justice to these victims of the J&K Government in case they are not released before or on the Eid day". It was not for the first time that Bhim Singh demanded release of hardcore criminals and anti-national elements. He had done so umpteen times in the past as well. As far his hobnobbing with certain elements in Pakistan and POJK, less said the better. Suffice to say that he claims that he is for Jammu province and that he wants changes in Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, but he does exactly the opposite when it comes to the crunch. That's the reason he is being described as "inconsistent and non-serious" political leader. Bhim Singh would do well to refashion his approach towards the issues of great national import and the sooner he does so the better. By continuing to indulge in activities he indulged thus far, he would only mar the electoral chances of his own party in Ramnagar, Udhampur and Samba constituencies which it at present represents in the assembly. He should remember that the constituency of Jammu is entirely different from that of the Kashmir Valley. He should also sit up to find what culminated in the ignominious defeat of the Congress in Jammu and Ladakh. |
