Deprived of basic amenities, Dhary Dabessi migrants moving back to danger zone | | | M S Nazki
Mendhar, July 18 : Fifty five victim families of cross fire who migrated from their ancestral houses near Line of Control (LoC) in 2003 to a village namely Dhary Dabessi, where they were promised a safe haven have now started moving back to the turmoil affected area due to lack of basic amenities. According to the Sarpanch of the village, Nazir Hussain, in the year 2002-2003 about 55 families migrated from villages near LoC to the village owing to tensions and were rehabilitated with joint efforts of state government and army but state government never bothered about the developments in the migrant colony. The Sarpanch said for a population of over 500 souls, there are one Primary and one Secondary School in the area. As far as health scenario is concerned, there is only one dispensary in the village which is locked for over last one year. "Teachers used to visit the school occasionally. Education system is degrading; students as well as villagers have to travel a distance of 8 Km to arrange the water for daily usage. Only help which the villagers are getting is through operation Sadhbhavana by the Indian Army", said the village Sarpanch. He added that life has become miserable in the colony owing to lack of basic amenities and the same has forced the villagers to move back to their ancestral houses near the Line of Control as state government has never come to help the villagers after the establishment of the colony. He appealed the Chief Minister as well as other concerned to visit the village and help the villagers. |
