Violent clashes in Anantnag, Kulgam
Cop, five youth sustain Injures

Anantnag, July 18 : At least five youths and a police cop sustained serious injuries during the violent clashes that broke out after Friday prayers in various areas of Anantnag and Kulgam district. Reports said that three youth in Qaimoh town of Kulgam district suffered injuries after forces resorted to aerial firing and smoke shells to disperse the protesters, who were demonstrating against Isreal aggression in Gaza. One of the injured identified as Aamir Ahmad Parray s/o Abdul Majeed Parry resident of Gratibal Qimoh has been shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment after doctors termed his situation critical.
Locals told Early Times that the youth received bullet injuries after CRPF allegedly resorted to aerial firing in the area. Three others were also hospitalised. Eye witnesses said that's several vehicles have also been damaged by the protesters after their bid to protest was foied. Protests demonstrations were also held in several areas of Anantnag town. In Lal Chowk area of Anantnag town two persons also sustained injuries who were shifted to Anantnag district hospital. Eyewitnesses said that near Anatnag Coperative Bank a policeman identified as Nisar Ahmad resident of Kulgam also sustained injuries after he was attacked by a mob. He too was shifted to district hospital for treatment. Additional contingents of forces were deployed in Anantnag and Kulgam towns for maintaining law and order, a senior police official told Early Times.
