7/18/2014 11:39:11 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 18 : Forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) came under heavy fire in Gurez sector in north Kashmir late last night and the firing continued till this morning, official sources said.
However, Defence Ministry spokesman was not available. Official sources said Indian forward posts at Bagtore in Gurez sector came under heavy fire, reportedly from across the border late last night.
The alert troops also retaliated and the exchange continued for several hours.
It was not immediately clear whether it was a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops or militant firing, they said.
No one was injured from this side, sources said adding firing could be to help militants to sneak into this side.
They said a large number of militants are waiting across the the LoC to cross over to this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall.
They said desperate attempts are being made across the border to send as many militants into Kashmir, where assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year.
