Contractual PHE employees allege non-payment of salaries | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, July 29: Contractual employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department alleged that they have not been paid their salaries for the last more than 14 months and they had to celebrate Eid festival without money which will dampen the spirits of Eid. These employees on Monday held a mass protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner and warned that if their salaries were not released soon they will start a full fledged agitation and will also snap the supply of drinking water "Our work load is more than the permanent employees. We have approached the concerned officials several times to release our pending salaries before Eid festival. But despite hollow promises we get nothing and we are forced to go for an agitation," said Mohd Tuffail and Zamoorat Hussain. Many other casual laborers said that they have been working for the last more than 7 years with the PHE department but he government has failed to regularize our jobs. Pertinent to mention that despite Chief Minister's assurance that salaries would be released before the Eid festival most of the government employees had to cut a sorry figure as the government has failed to credit the salaries into their bank accounts till 5pm on Monday and they had to leave for homes empty handed. |
